FAQ

The short answers. Something not working? Support has the fixes.

What is Patois?

Patois opens a music link in the streaming app you use. When someone sends you a song on a service you're not on, long press the link, pick Patois, and it opens the same song in yours.

Which services does it work with?

Spotify and Apple Music, in both directions. We plan to add more.

How do I use it?

On iPhone and iPad, long press a link, choose Share, then Patois. On Mac, turn on the Patois extension in Safari. You can also paste a link into the box on the home page. Step-by-step setup is on the support page.

What can it convert?

Songs, albums and artists. Playlists and podcasts can't be converted, because they only exist inside one service.

How does it find the right song?

It reads the song's details from your link, then looks for it on the other service. Where a service gives an exact identifier, such as an album barcode, it uses that. Otherwise it compares title, artist and length. It only returns a match it's confident about.

What if it can't find the song?

Patois would rather tell you it found nothing than send you to the wrong song. Not every track exists on both services, and catalogues differ by region. If a link converted to the wrong song, tell us through support and include the link.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no account, sign-in or email address.

What does Patois send, and to whom?

Only the music link you're converting, to Patois's own conversion service. No analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The full details are in the privacy policy.

Does it play music?

No. Patois doesn't play anything itself. It just opens the song in the app you already use.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone, iPad and Mac.
