Common questions

What Patois is and how it works is in the FAQ. These are the fixes for things that go wrong.

Spotify links open in the Spotify app instead of Safari

iOS sends links straight to the app that owns them. Long-press the link and choose Open in Safari once; from then on Safari handles them and the extension can do its job. To undo this, long-press a Spotify link and tap the Open in Spotify banner at the top of the page.

It opened a search instead of the song

Not every track exists on every service, and some are listed under different titles or artists. Patois would rather open a search than send you to the wrong song, so if a match isn't confident enough, you land on your service's search page for it. Regional catalogue differences are the most common cause.

Playlists don't open

That's expected. Playlists are collections that exist only inside one service; there is no equivalent link on the other one. Songs, albums and artists all work.

Podcasts don't open

Also expected. Spotify podcast episodes and shows have no Apple Music equivalent — podcasts live in Apple Podcasts, which is a separate catalogue.

Nothing happens when I use the share sheet

Make sure the Patois app is installed and has been opened at least once, and that you are sharing a link from Spotify, Apple Music or Deezer rather than a screenshot or plain text description.

Reporting a bad match

If a link opened the wrong song, email the original link and what it should have matched. Those reports are what improve the matching.

Privacy

Patois has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. The privacy policy explains exactly what is sent when you open a link.
