patois download now

Open music links in your app on iPhone and iPad.

Patois works two ways on iPhone and iPad: by itself in Safari, or from the share sheet in any app. It's free and available through TestFlight for now.

Set it up

  1. Get Patois from TestFlight, open it once and pick your music app.
  2. In Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions, turn on Patois and allow the websites it asks for.

Way one: in Safari

Tap a Spotify or Apple link that opens in Safari and Patois sends it to your app by itself. To stop this, open the Patois extension in Safari and turn off Open links automatically.

Way two: the share sheet

In Messages, WhatsApp or anywhere else, long-press the link and choose Share › Patois. This is also the only way to open Deezer links.

If a Spotify link keeps opening the Spotify app

iOS sends links straight to the app that owns them. Long-press the link and choose Open in Safari once, and Safari handles them from then on, which lets Patois do its job. To undo this, long-press a Spotify link and tap the Open in Spotify banner at the top of the page.

questions, answered.

Why TestFlight and not the App Store?

Patois isn't on the App Store yet. TestFlight is Apple's own app for trying apps before release, and you install it from the App Store.

Is there an Android version?

Not at the moment.

Can I use it without the Safari extension?

Yes. The share sheet works without it.

Is it free?

Yes. There's nothing to buy, no ads and no subscription, and you don't need an account.
